The club was formed in the summer of 2007 following the merger of Rugby Hockey Club and GEC Rugby hockey club. Rugby Hockey Club was formed in 1893 and was one of the oldest surviving clubs  in the Midlands whereas GEC had only been going since 1912 so 95 years of fierce competition between the clubs had to be put to one side for the greater good of the game in the town.
