RETURN TO HOCKEY - 29 MARCH
Posted by Nick Hutchinson on 16 March 2021
We’re optimistic that hockey can resume from 29 March in line with the Government’s road map.
Ordinarily, we’d be winding our regular season up at this time but we recognise the huge appetite to get playing again, so we’re putting some provisions in place.
All winter leagues have already been declared null and void with the exception of M1 & L1 divisions. These still need to be concluded on an alternative basis to allow movements to the soon to be expanded National League.
During early summer, we will be entering both Men’s and Ladies’ teams to their respective summer leagues but in the interim, we propose to arrange some internal matches for as many of our senior Saturday team players as possible.
We’re also looking at our junior provisions. With limited pitch availability and a recognised clash with many local cricket clubs, we’re not going to resume Friday Night Juniors until September, but we are hoping to have some occasional U8, U10 & U12 Sunday morning tournaments.
Bear with us as we put measures in place. We’re still waiting for formal confirmation from England Hockey as to what restrictions / tiers will be put in place. Information will be circulated via the usual channels.
We look forward to seeing everyone back on a pitch very soon.
